For hot onion juice with herbs:
1/2 cup of water
1 medium onion, cubed
1 tsp honey, maple syrup (or rock sugar) for vegans
2 sage leaves, minced
1 tsp fresh thyme, minced
Place cubed onions in a saucepan, add the honey and water, and cook while stirring, until the sweetener has dissolved and the mix gets a little thicker.
Fill in a jar with screwtop, add sage and thyme. Screw on the top and shake. Leave to cool down for 2 hours.
After the blend has cooled, strain the juice from the blend. The juice can be taken 3 teaspoonfuls 3 times a day and will last in an airtight container at least two weeks in the refrigerator. ©2013Sabineart.com
For cold onion syrup (supposedly more potent):
1 medium or large onion, cubed
2 tsp honey, maple syrup (or rock sugar) for vegans
Place the cubed onion in a jar with screwtop, add enough sweetener that the onions are covered (maybe 2 Tbs), close the glass and shake. Let the blend sit for 2 hours or overnight or in a warm place. The onion will sweat juice that will absorb the sweetener. After the resting period, strain the onion blend with a strainer or cheese cloth, fill in an airtight container. This blend is also to be taken as 3 teaspoonfuls 3 times a day and supposedly lasts one week in the refrigerator. ©2013Sabineart.com
